Vy grew up in Dallas, TX and is now a California resident in the Bay Area. He is an ordained pastor in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) tradition and works as the Assistant Regional Director for Churh World Sevice covering Northern California, Northern Nevada, and Arizona. Vy serves on the board development and nominations committee and is a sustaining congregation representative from East Bay Lutheran Parish. He first heard of LVC when he was an intern at the churchwide offices of the ELCA in Chicago.
Vy's hope for the immediate future is to expand his family to include a pet. He is trying to decide between a fish and a turtle. But whatever he chooses, it much be one who will want to live simply and sustainably, be in a community and fight for justice with him daily.
