Sue completed her undergraduate degree at Boston College in computer science. Shortly after college she joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, working with refugee children in Santa Ana, CA. This experience led her to a lifetime of social justice work, assisting homeless persons and children with mental health challenges. Sue obtained a law degree from the University of Los Angeles and was previously a family law attorney providing legal aid to low-income people, especially those surviving domestic violence. She has lived throughout the country; her favorite places are the desert and ocean. She speaks conversational Spanish and enjoys the Spanish-language novellas.
