Karmi grew up in Beresford, South Dakota and attended Grinnell College in Iowa. After college, she moved to Minneapolis to spend a year in LVC ('97-98) in north Minneapolis. Following her LVC year, she purchased a house in north Minneapolis and has been a devoted north Minneapolis resident ever since. Her day job is as an Analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank, though she has night gigs as a Weight Watchers Leader and as an usher at Target Center Arena (LVC's practice of simplifying one's life commitments never quite "took" with me, although my favorite core practice is sustainability). Karmi serves on LVC's personnel and executive committees and chairs the board nominations and development committee. In addition to her LVC board responsibilities, she also serves on the board of trustees of Grinnell College.
