Journey to an Inclusive Community

LVC is on a Journey to an Inclusive Community, forming and strengthening alliances among people of many cultures and communities, and by intentionally dismantling racism within LVC, the church, and society.  LVC realizes that institutional racism profoundly impacts the social landscapes in which we live and work.  LVC is dedicated to working toward becoming an inclusive community as an organization.

LVC promotes diversity and community within its board of directors, committees and staff, and promotes similar behavior among donors, placement organizations, volunteers and the larger community.  LVC shall not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender identity, age, ability, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.  Persons of color and/or whose primary language is other than English are encouraged to participate in LVC at all levels of the organization.

Listed below are a variety of resources that the LVC staff has used to guide them in their own personal and communal journey towards an inclusive community.  Within the list you will find books, magazines, videos, documentaries and websites that might give you some ideas for doing anti-oppression work in your own life.  Let us know if you have any resources that have helped you on your journey.
